Abstract

The present study was carried out to study the effect chronic irradiation through successive generations on the biology of qulex pipiens molestus. The effect of exposing radiation selected populations of this mosquito to an acute gamma radiation was also investigated. The present work was also undertaken in order to find if there is any possibility of developing resistance
to the acute irradiation during the mosquito exposure to substerilizing
doses of gamme through the successive generations. Radiation-selected populations of the mosquito Culex pipiens molestus were originated by exposing pupae of each population to certain doses of gamma radiation from Cobalt-60 source successively for fourteen generations.
