Abstract Pulmonary Tuberculosis is an infectious disease. The source of infection is man via sputum and other excreta or animal via milk., respiratory and other excreta. The size or infecting dose, the virulence of tubercle bacilli and the defense of the host are factors that influence the infectiousness of tubercle baei11i. Mycobacteri un toberculosi s virulence is due to its ability to survive and proliferate in mononuclear phagocytes, WJd there must be frequent and prolonged contact with tuberculous patient for transmission of infection that occur via droplet nuclei or ingestion of infected milk . . Tuberculosis morbidity and mortality is nigher in communities with low socioeocnomic states as over crowding facilitates transmission of the infection and the deficient diet Impaired host resistarce and makes person more liable to get infection. Also some occupations such as shoe industry printing and silica worker have high morbidity and mortality, in addition, alchol dependence and goza and cigarete smoking especially in, Egypt give rise to high riske of’pulmouery tuberculosis . This study was conducted on 50 patients of them, 29 were males and 2l were females and their ages ranged from 20 to 50 years. There was an intimate relationship between the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis and lhe occupations of patients There was also, positive family history in 30% of’patienrs. |
