Abstract Anterior cruciate ligament injury is a relatively common and the most frequently disrupted among the knee ligaments. Functional stability of the knee is dependant on an intact ligan~entous system and efficient contraction of supporting musculature. In recent years, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction has become more common among physically active adults. Rehabilitation of patients with ACL injury is a topic of interest among clinicians and plays a major factor in the functional outcome of this problem after reconstruction The aim of this work was to compare the effect of neuro-muscular electrical stimulation of quadriceps and hamstring muscles and exercise program with exercise program only in the rehabilitation after arthroscopic ACL reconstruction. This study was carried out on 30 patients after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction collected from the outpatient clinic of Physical medicine, Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Surgery Departments, Tanta university Hospitals. Their ages ranged from 18 to 47 years, 23 were males and 7 were females. |
