Research Summary
. ’~~]’:~ Introduction :;’,+: .
Existentialism is a theory of explaining man, his existence, and his
relation to the world, Every human being is an uncomplete project, ready
for growth and continuity. This project necessitates two main conditions:

Freedom and responsibility. No one exists without freedom, nofreedom
exists without responsibility.
Man in this and coming century suffers from many pressures, that
affect his values, so he may accept or try to actualize his existence, using
his freedom and responsibility. The human approaches believe that man
can direct his behavior, from these approaches, Logotherapy apprears as
an optimistic trend towards life, asserts that meaning must be found but
not given. It also asserts that man can form and reform himself, in other
words, man has the right to be guilty, and his responsibility is to 0’ .
come his guilt, because if we treat man as a victim to the circumstances,
so we stop to deal him as a free being.
Logotherapy asserts the existence of a creative set of values
encourging man to work, an attitudual one helping him to face pain and
suffering, and a third experiential set including values of love,
understanding and philosophy. All are supported by the principle ·of
responsibility and the ability to take a decision.
Growth is a chain of trials to learn, in which one can face many
situations without being ready, the older may lead their children to feel
guilty.
Guilt feeling is a belief on a past doing, and the need to relieve
guilt feeling may be the only interest in man’s life” One may try to relieve
guilt through expiation, penalty or regret, or he may try to prove being
innocent using many different ways.

Guilt feeling plays an important role III all neuroses, because it
means a sort of self - recrimination that leads to self - blame, and needs to
be dealt with through psychotherapy.
The researcher tries to relieve guilt feeling through usmg a
logotherapy program, aiming to test its effectiveness, and to construct the
theoretical background of logotherapy, and of Guilt feeling, its causes,
features, and also the different ways to assess it, and the different
approaches used to alleviate it.
Study Terms:
1- Guilt Feeling:
Guilt feeling is anonnal feeling at any time, but it may become
a neurotic one when it becomes a general feature for the human behavior.
There must be ageneral, veiw of guilt feeling to understand its existential
concept as well as its neurotic one.
2- Logothera py :
Logotherapy is an approach dealing with human existence, aiming
at understanding it, and lightening the main power in man which is the
will of meaning. The will of meaning gives life, work, love and even pain
a deep meaning, encourages man to face the world and get rid of his
fears.
Study Sample:
The study sample consists of (20) students, divided into two
groups:
- The control group (10 : 5 males, 5 females).
- The experimental group (10: 5 males, 5 females).
Study Tools :
-_._---_. ._------------------------~/
-4- ,
1- The Guilt feeling scale. prepared by the researcher.
2- The logotherapy program. Prepared by the researcher.
Study Hypotheses:
1- There are statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt feeling
degrees between the control and the experimental groups after the
program for the side of the experimental group.
2- There are statistically significat differences in the mean of the guilt
feeling degrees of the experimental group between the before and the
after the program for the side of the after.
3- There are no statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt
feeling degrees of the experimental group between the males and the
females.
4- There are statistically significant differerices in the mean of guilt feeling
degrees among all groups after the program related to the interaction
between the two variables of the study.
5- There are statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt feeling
degrees of the experimental group between the before and the after the
program related to the interaction of the two variables of the study.
6- There are statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt feeling
degrees between the control and the. experimental group after the
follow up for the side of the experimental group.
7- There are no statistically significant differences in the mean of the guilt
feeling degrees of the experimental group between after program and
after the follow up application.
8- There are no statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt
feeling degrees of the experimental group between the males and the
females after the follow up.
-:)-
9- There are statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt feeling
degrees among all groups after the follow up related to the interaction
between the two variables of the study.
10- There are no statistically significant differences in the mean of guilt
feeling degrees of’ the experimental group between after the program
and after the follow up application related to the interaction of the two
variables of the study.
Statistical styles:
1- Variance Analysis : Simple and complex.
2- Tukeys test.
3- Man - Whitny’s test.
4- Wilkokson’s test.
Study Results:
The results reveal that the first, the second, the third, the sixth, the
seventh, the eighth, and the tenth hypotheses are affirmed, but the fourth,
the fifth, and the ninth hypotheses are not. The results are discussed in the
ligth of the theoretical background and the previous studies.
Study Boundaries:
The study and its results are bounded by its sample, tools, and the
statistical styles used in it.
