Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the influence of obesity during pregnancy on maternal and fetal outcomes. The stud was conducted at the labor ward and emergency room of the maternity health center at Assiut University Hospital using a cross-sectional analytic design. A total of 610 women were included and then divided into two groups according to their BMI: 185 women with BMI 25-<30 kg/m2 assumed to be normal weight, and 425 women with 8MI 30 kg/m2 or higher and considered as obese women. The data of the study were collected using two different tools, namely a• structured interview questionnaire form and a physical assessment sheet. The questionnaire form was fil1ed using face¬ to-face individual interviewing; with women. The place of examination was dependent on the stage of labor. A venous blood sample was taken to assess random serum glucose level. The woman was then fol1owed up until delivery. |
