Abstract
This study is designed to stud the left ventricular function m patients with liver cirrhosis. This study was conducted on 90 cirrhotic patients selected from In-patient Department of Tropical Medicine in Menoufiya University Hospital [they were 58 male (64.4%) and 32 female (35.6%) and their ages were ranging from 39 years to 63 years] and 30 healthy individuals as control group. Patients and controls were divided into the following groups Group (I)Comprised (90) cirrhotic patients. In which subdivided into 3 subgroups according child pugh classification G Ia: Comprised 00 cirrhotic patient (child grade A). G lb: Comprised (30) cirrhotic patint (child grade B). G Ie: Comprised (30) cirrhotic patient (child grade C). Group (II): Comprised 30 healthy persons as control group. Patients with one or more of the following were extended: Intrinsic heart disease (lschemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease rheumatic heart disease, pericardial diseases and arrthymias), hypertentsive patients, hyperdynamic state (hyperthyroidism, anemia, pregnancy and chronic infectious disease), alcoholic liver disease, dyslipidemia, hypercholesteraemia, diabetic patients, acute &chronic renal failure, cyanotic patients & patients with C.O.P.D or malignancy.
