Abstract COPD is a major public health problem, Patients with COPD frequently have exacerbations which are an important cause of morbidity, mortality, and health care cost (Hurst JR, 2004). Viral infection is responsible for the majority of clinical exacerbations in patients with COPD (Gump DW et al., 1976). The air carries different contaminants and is responsible for making the nose one of the major reservoirs of microorganisms in the body (Selim et al., 1985). The nose is considered a primary focus of multiplication and dissemination of organisms onto the skin and into the air. By depressing the nasal staphylococci, a rapid reduction of both skin staphylococci and aerial staphylococci is obtained (White et al., 1963). Beside the factor of nasal hygiene, there is the factor of exposure to contamination; those two factors operate in conjunction to yield the personal nasal flora |
