Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the seminal characters and sexual activity of barki x merino crosses kept under the same environmental conditions of barki rams. Moreover, the study aims to obtain certain physiological parameters on investigated rams. These parameters may indicate the magnitude of adaptability of pure barki and merino x barki crosses to the prevailing environmental conditions throughout the year. Investigated parameters include rectal temperature, respiration rate and pulse rate. The experiment is carried out at maryout experimental station which belongs to the desert institute and located some 30km. Southwest of alexandria. Experimental animaLs comprise ten rams, 4 to 5 years old at the begining of the experiment. Three rams are pure barki while the remaining rams represent two different crosses between barki and merino (3 rams 3/8 merino and 4 rams 5/8 merino. Methods applied are described In detail. Results obtained and discussion are given clearly.
