Abstract

This study was performed to model and analyze certain problems by using a computer model created by the auther by means of visual basic and present the result on GIS by taking river nile as an important application; and study the river mile high flood effects by this model. The model based on mathematical equations that are used to calculate water surface profile, and the properties of cross sections are taken all over the nile.
The main objective of the research is how to create a model that can predict the hign flood effects by predicting the water levels at different cross sections taken all over the nile , when passing high discharge to the model, the model presents the flooded area on maps generated by GIS.
The study was be based on using a computer model by means of visual basic programming language; this computer model applied mathematical model and then present the result on maps by using gepgraphic information sysytem GIS . additionally on the other hand, selection of that model justified the cost considerations.
