Abstract

Coronary artery disease is a major health problem worldwide. Young patients with CAD represent an important clinical item as their clinical features, natural history and different risk factors. Our study included 50 patients post infarction, 25 of them were below 40 years and the other 25 were old were above 60 years.

Objectives were:
- To study different risk factors and their prevalence among both groups.
- To study the angiographic features and the extent of coronary artery affection.

Patients (in both groups) were subjected to:
- Careful history taking and analysis of risk factors.
- Clinical evaluation and ECG.
- Biochemical evaluation; blood sugar level, cardiac enzymes and lipid profile.
- Echocardiography: for estimation of ejection fraction and assessment of segmental wall motion abnormalities.
- Coronary angiography: for assessment of the extent of coronary artery affection.
