Abstract
The effect of varying intervals and foliar spray with different concentrations of cycocel on evapotranspiration, vegetative growth and content of essential oil of pelargonium gravcolens L. is investigated. Water economy and efficiency of water use are also determined. It is found that evapotranspiration increases as plant growth progresses. Its value decreases by increasing both irrigation interval and cycocel concentrations. Evapotranspiration calculations give similar results. Plant height increases by decreasing irrigation interval and/or cycocel concentrations. The number of branches also increases by decreasing irrigation interval and/or increasing cycocel concentrations. Fresh and dry weight and moisture content of leaves and branches decreases by decreasing irrigation interval and/or cycocel concentrations. The overground parts show the same trend. Yield of essential oil decreases with increasing both irrigation interval and cycocel concentration. Water economy values increase with irrigation interval and ecrease with increasing cycocel concentration.
