Abstract The aim of this thesis is to study the effect of the nondeterministic parameters on the probability of failure of multi bay multi story steel frames and standard steel section either to determinate the valaue of reliability of an existed structure or to design a new one.. This uncertainty analysis is composed with the traditional deterministic approach of analysis to clarify the need for such new techniques to insure the safe economic design of structures.Chapter one presents a general view of the theory of probability which is the main entrance to the theory of reliability. Chapter two provides an introduction to the reliability theory in the fundamental and general cases and the reliability index. Also, this chapter deals with the system reliability. Chapter three describes the methods of reliability used in structural analysis especially monte carlo, first order second moment and point estimate methods. This chapter deals also with method of determination of probability of failure. Chapter four deals with the plastic anallysis and design of multi bay multy story steel frames and how to applicate the reliability method of analysis on them to get rheir values of reliability. Chapter five studies the standard steel cross sections to give the reliability value of the specific cross section under a certain value of pure moment . Chapter six includes the conclusions. |
