Abstract This thesis deals with El-Missikat and El-Erediya younger granites and their associated uranium mineralization. G. El-Missikat younger granite pluton is an oval shaped pluton (covering an area of about 75m2), intruded mainly into syntectonic granitoids and granite gneisses with mostly sharp contacts. It is uniform in character, commonly massive and rarely foliated. It is medium to coarse grained, reddish pink in color, speckled with some milky white, plagioclase feldspars and smoky quartz grains. It is composed mainly of quartz, potash feldspars (manly perthite), sodic plagioclase and subordinate phlogopite, as well as minor mounts of fluorite. Accessory minerals are zircon, sphene, apatite, monazite, rutile, epidote, and magnetite. Iron oxides occur as clots of hematite and limonite. |
