Abstract Studying of deep foundation subjected to different external loads has been a subject of great interest in geotechnical engineering through the last decades. Piles are amongst the deep foundation elements that are introduced into soil to transmit loads acting on the super structure to the foundation soil. Reliable prediction of the deformational behavior of pile group remains one of the major and important tasks that the geotechnical engineer has to deal with, to achieve a safe and economic design. In this study, the proposed numerical method is utilized to simulate the behavior of pile groups subjected to vertical loads. The complicated nonlinear soil behavior is studied by utilizing Drucker-Prager elasto-plastic constitutive model. The instrumentation results of a well-instrumented case history are used to calibrate and verify the proposed numerical model by comparing the results of numerical modeling using finite element method and the corresponding measured deformations and loads. |
