Abstract Olive cultivation in arid and remote areas of Egypt where hand labour is scanty gives a great economic potential nut the problem of olive intensinve labour harvest with alternate bearing labour harvest with alternate bearing habit constitutes a great obstacle which faces olive cultivation expansion. This work is originally planned in the hope of minimizing these two problems. The application of some abscission promoting substances namely ether Alar and Salicylic and to facilitate mechanical harvest is adopted. The application of GA3 in order to overcome alternate bearing thabit or in other words to regulate the cropping of oliver trees is the other dimension in this work. Additi-onal experiment is conducted to evaluate different prometers and inhibitors during the course of fruit grouth curve to study the changes occuring in some chemical components during the fruit development. The study is conducted at Kom Oshiem Farm at Fayoum Governorate during the three successive seasons 1982/ 1983/19831984 and 1984/ 1985. The work is carried out on trees of two olive varieties namely chemali and mission . Trees are 30 years old budded on chemali rootstock and planted 7 meters aport. Trees are grown in sandy .soil and receiving the normal cultural pracTices as recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture. The work is designed to involve three separate experiments. |
