Abstract
The present study is conducted to isolate, identify some of the legume viruses and to attempt to purify these viruses by several methods in order to obtain a procedure that yields high concentration of virus particles for the production of antisera. Host range is very limited compared with other reported strains of the virus. The virus is transmitted by the aphid Myzus persicae and is carried in about 33 % of seed produced from the infected fetriaat cultivar. Electron microscopic examination revealed that the virus particles are elongated rods 750 nm in length and 14 nm in width. Using a modified technique, the virus is purified by polyethylene glycol and high speed centrifugation.
