Abstract 26 buffalo calves 3-7 days old and 30.85 kg. weight at birth are employed in the present study. The animals are divided into 3 groups and are assigned three levels of nutrition. Calves within each experimental group are subjected individually to the assigned nutritional levels from nursing to first calving. The genital organs are palpated on a weekly basis to study the cyclicity of the heifers. Heifers are checked for heat symptoms by herd attendants two times a day at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. and are first mated when they are 18 months old and of weight not less than 300 kg. |
