Abstract

The high incidence of ITP cases urged us to study the pathogenesis of this disease specially the role of T cell co-stimulatory molecules, which considered the most important pathway in the pathogenesis of the disease in many past studies that looked at the blockade of this pathway as a promising control of the disease.
Our study included 80 subjects divided into 3 groups as follow:
Group 1:
Patients of acute ITP (26 cases, 14 males and 12 females), their age ranged from 2.5-12 years.
Group 2:
Patients of chronic ITP (34 cases, 12 males and 22 females), their ages ranged from 2-18 years.
Group 3:
Twenty age and sex matching healthy subjects were served as controls from children attending the hospitals included in the study for evaluating their general condition after permission from their parents.
