Abstract

Nowadays, increasing attention has been focused on investigating occupational stress and its consequences among nurses. Emotional demands of patients, inadequate staffing, work overload, conflicting among patients, direct patient care, organizational environment, excessive paper work, lack of involvement in decision-making, lack of feedback from supervisors regarding job performance, meeting the perceived demands of immediate supervisors, conflict with other healthcare providers, lack of effective communication, lack of job security, excessive time away from home and family were identified as sources of stress. Stress can result in a variety of outcome variable. These include physical or somatic outcomes such as coronary heart disease, and reduced brain functions such as memory, concentration, and learning. Affection of social outcomes such as psychological outcomes such psychological well-being , life satisfaction, and mental health can also occur
