المستخلص Lagonychium farctum Bobr. (Banks & Sol.) is a perennial , spiny and wild shrub belongs to Leguminosae. Its fruits are widely used in Egyptian folk medicine as a hypoglycemic drug. From the previously published on the botanical, chemical constituents and biological studies on this plant, the present study was planned to be as follows: I. Macromorphological study of the stem, leaf, inflorescence, fruit and seed. II. Preliminary phytochemical screening of the fruits and flowers. III. Detection, isolation and structure elucidation of the compounds from the fruits and flowers. VI. Study whether the folk use of the fruits of the plant as a hypoglycemic drug in Egypt is based on scientific rationale or not. V. Study the acute toxicity and finally the antibacterial activity of the fruits. |
