Abstract The study included 80 children suffering from newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis from the inpatient of pediatric department Assiut University Hospital during the period of (1995-1997), aged 6-15 years (48 males and 32 females), as well as 30 apparently healthy children of matched age, sex and nutritional status as controls. Full history including, cough (< one month), fever (<15 days), wheeze, haemoptysis, TB toxaemia, history of contact with a tuberculous adult, and history of receiving BCG vaccine as well as complete clinical examinations including examinations of chest, heart, abdomen, central nervous system, ;lymph node and assessment of the nutritional status and pallor were performed to both patients and controls. |
