Abstract
This investigation represents a comparative study of algal composition beside the physical and chemical characteristics of the samples collected from the four Great Sub-Groups of Assiut Governorate. Particular attention was focused to bring more knowledges on the algal flora endemic to heavy metals pollutant. The changes in soil characteristics, distribution of heavy metals (Cd2+, Ni2+ & Pb2+) as well as algal taxa were seasonally followed during a period from November 2003 to October 2004. Also, the influence of these heavy metals added to the soils on algal diversity were conducted. Moreover, the growth and some metabolic activities of the five from the isolated species under various concentrations of heavy metals were assessed.
