Abstract
This thesis deals with synthesis and characterization of two types of crosslinkers which in turn are used in preparation of temperature sensitive crosslinked polymers. These copolymers can be used as oil sorbers to alleviate the environmental oil spill pollution.
The work involves synthesis of reactive monomer, cinnamoyloxy ethyl methacrylate (CEMA) which reacted with different mole ratios of octadecyl acrylate (ODA) to prepare linear CEMA/ODA linear copolymers. The structures of the prepared compounds have been confirmed by using different physicochemical tools such as IR and 1HNMR spectroscopic techniques and elemental analysis.
