Abstract
this study deals with two main figures kingsley aimes (1922-1995 )and peter ackroyed 1949 they are acclaimed to be the best british writer of their generations both of them belong to aworking class background scholarship playes in important role of their education both are prolific they write many other literary genres like biographies criticism and fiction this study falls in three chapters the first chapter is an attempt to crystalize the spirit and the meaning of the term’s metafiction through giving asurvey of its various aspects and definitions set by the various this attempt extends to include another branch of metafiction historiographic metafiction, the second chapter handels metafiction as atrend in analyzing kingsley amis’s novels lucky jim and that un certain feeling ,the third chapter deals with historiographic meta fiction in an attempt to analyze the context of peter ackroyd’s hawksmoor and chatterton, the conclusion sums up the findings of the research.
