Abstract
The aim of the work is to study the effect of lipoic acid as an
otoprotective agent against cisplatin ototoxicity in human.Cisplatin is considered as an indispensable chemotherapeutic
agent in spite of its known ototoxicity. a-lipoic acid is used as
otoprotective against cisplatin induced ototoxicity by a prospective
study on thirty patients divided into two equal groups; first group
under cisplatin therapy alone and the second group under cisplatin
and lipoic acid therapy. These patients were receiving cis platin
chemotherapy at oncology and nuclear medicine departments in
Zagazig University Hospitals.
