Abstract
The present study was carried out at the experimental farm of Minia university , during the two seasons of 1993 , 1994.
The objectives of the present investigation were:
1) to study the effect of three water regimes varying in the irrigation interval on the different characters of S1 lines isolated from the three populations.
2) to determine the differences among the studied populations and their reaction to water regimes.
3)to estimate the genetic parameters within these populations.
4)to compute the water regime index and using it for identify the superior drought tolerance s1 lines
