Abstract
The work aimed to evaluate breast conserving surgery in 40 presented with stages I and II cancer breast and to compare lumpectomy with postoperative irradiation to the index versus lumpectomy with postoperative whole breast
The patients after conservative breast surgery were randomized
and nodal area (axillary, supraclavicular and internal summary nodes) giving a dose of 40-45 Gy/4-4.5 weeks. This was followed by booster dose of radiotherapy to the tumor bed with safety margin using electron beam therapy (10-15 Gy).
The second group included twenty patients who received radiotherapy to the tumor bed and safety margin by external electron beam therapy giving a dose of 50-60 Gy/5-6 weeks.
