Abstract

The GSM network is presented to introduce the importance of DC power supply for Telecom field and the drawbacks if the power supply is not reliable and so causing coverage outage. The motivation for this is presented as an interest to understand the know how and reason for the difference in size of power supplies as an applied application .theses obtain the main difference between linear and switched mode power supply and the advantage of SMPS over the linear. Distributed power system is presented as applied integrated system consist of many DC power supplies working parallel as a typical application for telecom power integrated system .
Literature review covering the switching mode power supply history and techniques and to reach the most suitable topology for telecom application , select the full bride converter and start to apply different switching technique , the conventional PWM and its theory of operation and the presented ZVS and more detailed description , theory of operation including the consideration and limitations. A design for full bridge DC/DC converter implement, a calculation done to know the optimum operating range and parameters to full fit the required ZVS for the switching .Phase shift PWM perform and MOSFET losses simulated and measure for optimum ZVS with different conditions .Comparison between conventional PWM and phase shifted PWM perform to prove the different in MOSFET losses and the minimizing in output ripple that causing decreasing in output filter size and value. Orientation of battery types is presented as typical load for any power supply focusing on type used for telecom application. Shows the factors affect the life time of battery and effect of over and under charging as drawbacks for inefficient power supply. Full procedure of battery testing and maintenance is presented including discharge table and result for actual test. Finally the waste handling, storge and environmental disposal practices is illustrates as essential problem exist in Egyptian market.
