Abstract

The present study was carried out to illustrate the effect of dietary supplementation of 22 mg Iasalocid / kg DM on some nutritional and physiological aspects of Ossimi lambs and Baladi goat kids. Two experiments were conducted , each of them contained 18 animals divided into two comparable groups. The first group was left untreated and served as control, meanwhile , the other one fed the isalocid supplementated diet. Age of lamps was 4-5 months and body weight was 20.2 kg. The corresponding values of the kids were 3-4 months and 14.8 kg respectively. Each experiment lalasted 20 weeks. The animals were subjected for the following daily feed allowance : clover hay restricted to only 20% of their TDN requirements plus concentrate mixture offered ad lib. Fresh water was available all day time .. The animals were confined in semi open pens . Body weight , blood analysis and tests measurements were taken at biweekly intervals .Nutrient digestibility trails rumen parameters and carcass trails were estimated by the end of two experiments.
The obtained results revealed the following:
1- Dietry lasalocid supplementation to either Ossimi lambs ( Experiments 1) or Baladi goat kids ( Experiment 2) at the level of 22 mg/ kg DM increased the total gain by 4.6 for the lamps and 2.4 kg for the kids , which yielded 22.8 and 24.7 % improvement over the control
2- The Average daily gain ( ADG) of the control and lasalocide treated animals was 144.4 and 177.0 g for the lambs versus 69.5 and 86.4 g for the kids
