Abstract

Radiological intervention that would be of Benefit to anesthesia are usually the ultrasound, CT, and MRI guided.
1. Ultrasound:
Which is sound waves that represent mechanical disturbance that propagate through liquid, solid, or gas causing movement of particles parallel to the direction of sound wave. Sound has frequency of 1 – 40 MHZ, human can hear from 20 – 20,000HZ.
I. Transcranial Doppler
Penetrate the skull and accurately measure blood flow velocity in basal vessels and is used for:
Monitoring the effect of volatile agent on cerebra blood flow.
Monitoring the effect of I.V. agent on cerebral blood flow.
Detecting the feeding arteries of Arteriovenous malformation.
Detecting of cerebral ischemia during carotid endarterectomy.
Monitoring of MCAFV in obstetric patient.
Measuring cerebral autoregulaton in ICU.
Detection of different phases of cerebral flow following a head injury.
Evaluation of subarachinoid hemorrhage.
Evaluation of Brain death.
