Abstract

of life are Hypotension is a condition in which patients and their quality of life are affected by it. despite the presence of controversy about considering hypotension as a disease entity or not. It is presented with different complaints that may be considered vague in our clinical practice.
From ( 1128) patient attending the outpatient clinic of cardiology and internal medicine department in Suez Canal University teaching hospital , at the period from 1/11/2000 to 1/11/2001 , only 18% ( 206) patients were hypertensive , i.e. Bp is 100/60 mm Hg or less . From (206) patients , only (59) patients fulfilled the inclusion criteria of our study . (6) patients refused to participate and (3) patients dropped – out from the study . This means that the prevalence of chronic constitional hypotension was 5.2%.
The other 71.4 % ( 47/206) of hypertensive patients were excluded , 18% CHF on medical treatment ,14% DM on medical treatment, 10.6% CLD no medical treatment , 8.7% IHD on medical treatment 7% hypertensive on medical treatment , 5% menstruating women ,3.8% CRF on heamodialysis , 2.9% pregnant ladies and 1.4 cardiomology on medical treatment
Then descriptive cross- sectional study was conduced to describe the clinical evaluation , laboratory findings , echocardiography study and cardiovascular autonomic function testing in patients with chronic constitutional hypotensive ( No= 50) in comparison to age ( mean 28.5 years) and sex ( male l female ratio 0.85) matched healthy normotensive individuals ( NO= 50.
