Abstract Twenty patients with various stages of primary breast cancer have been subjected to clinical, histological and biochemical studies. 10 patients were premenopausal, and the other 10 were postmenopausal. Complete clinical evaluation of the patients, both breasts and regional lymph nodes were examined. Tumor pathology was identified. Staging of the patients was estimated according to the Colombia system. Estrogen and Progesterone receptor patterns of the tumors were assessed by the DCC assay as described by Pichon and Miigranr ! ’ for measurement of cytosolic receptors.( ERc & PgRc), while the Ethanol Centrifugal assay as described by Leake and Laing ’was used for measurement of nuclear receptors. For each case, a Schatchard plot was made for the estrogen and progesterone receptors,^ and the binding sites as well as the dissociation constant of each receptor positive case was calculated. Care was taken to perform the tumor biopsy in the follicular phase of the cycle in premenopausal women . At the same day of the biopsy, blood samples were taken from the patients to estimate their plasma Estradiol and Progesterone, and, to evaluate the patients cellular immune response in the form of the T cell subsets( T helper and T suppressor. |
