Abstract Hypertension is a major risk factor for coronary, cerebral and renovascular disease. Since damage to target organ is the principal source of morbidity and mortality associated with high blood pressure, early detection of target organ damage is important, as rigorous control of blood pressure with antihypertensive medications can regress the target organ damage and the consequent morbidity and mortality can be reduced. Target organ damage is more closely related to ambulatory blood pressure monitoring than clinic or office measurements. Our study included forty patients with controlled hypertension by office measurement . The aim of the study was to evaluate the role of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring as a tool for proper evaluation of blood pressure control . There were 21 males and 19 females. All the patients were above the age of forty years and their age ranged between 41 and 77 years. The duration of hypertension ranged between 3 & 18 years. |
