Abstract
work entailed both anatomical and surgical study of the juxtasellar region in an lo come up with a conclusion of which approach is suitable for a given tumor. i composed of two sections; icrasurgicat anatvmical stoufy; ’& comprised the detailed anatomical study of each of six surgical approaches to the idlac region, three skull base approaches, and three conventional approaches. conducted on twenty sides of cadaveric heads (10 heads). Each approach was ]ed ten times, in a way mimicking the actual operation, starting from the skin to the isure ofthe juxtasellar region, then each approach was compared to its equivalent on the •pad Tlte angle of exposure and the distance from a fixed point on the outer bony limit of each proach were measured and compared. This reflects the degree of brain retraction applied to ve exposure of certain predetermined points in the juxtasellar region. In each of the six approaches, the neurovascular relations in the juxtaseliar region were lusinythe surgical microscope, and the scope and the limitations of each approach were fenlifcd in order lo apply that information in the surgical series.it The surgical series;ied iwo groups of patients;
