Abstract The present thesis contains three main chapters: Chapter (1) ( Introduction): Represents a scientific and a historical review concerned with different chelating resins with various functionalities and their applications in the binding metal ions from aqueous solutions. Chapter (II)( Experimental ): This part represents the experiments and techniques that were used for preparation and characterization of the studied resins and studying their uptake behavior towards different metal ions Chapter (III) ( Results and Discussions This Chapter contains the data obtained and their discussion . This chapter was divided into three main parts: Part 1: Chelating resins with amine , thio and amine/mercaptan functionalitities has been synthesized . The resins obtained were tested for recovery of gold (III) from its acidic media . Almost mercaptan containing resins as an active site found to be more efficient in the recovery of gold (III). An uptake value of 2.23mmol/g was reported. The adsorption data were found to fit with Langmuir isotherm . The uptake of gold (III) and regeneration of the resins were studied using batch and column methods . Elution efficiency up to 90- 98% was reached using acidified thiourea. |
