Abstract

The present investigation covered a detailed studies on:
A- Phytochemical studies of some plant oils.
B- Toxicological studies:
(i) Evaluation of toxicity of some plant oils against the immature stage of P. interpunctella and adult stage of S. oryzae and S. granarius.
(ii) Effect of plant oils on some biological activities of P. interpunctella.
(iii) Morphogenic abnormalities of larvae, pupae and adults of P. interpunctella.
C- Histopathological and anatomical studies on larvae and ovary of P. interpunctella.
D- Biochemical studies:
In this respect tweleve wild plants were originally obtained from Asswan province. They are classified into two groups according to their own constituents (fixed and volatile oils). The following points were summarized as follows:
A- Phytochemical studies (Extraction and identification of plant oils).
(i) Fixed oils:
The fixed oils were extracted by using the maceration technique of different plant parts in light petroleum ether 40/60. The products of seven oils were tested for toxicity. The extracted oils of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graceum) rumex (Rumex dentatus) and acacia (Acacia nilotica), plants were found the most toxic substances against Plodia interpunctella larvae, Sitophilus oryzae and Sitophilus granarius adults. These three oils were subjected to further analytical studies for identification.
