Abstract

The problem of this study such as some other similar economic studies was the low level of the Egyptian population consumption of animal protein, as one of necessary human nutrition element. Mean-while it aimed to give more light on some sides of such subject, particularly for production the red meat from cattle which considered the most impor¬tant source of animal protein.
Buffaloes and cows were found clearly the main animal units to produce protein in both milk and meat products, because of its enormous numbers in Egyptian agriculture and with using a great part of the limited feedstuffs. This could reflected as it was shown a fact, that cattle meat represent the main source of human consumed quantities of red meat compared with products from other animal units, which estimated by about 83$, as an annual average for the period (1974-1985).
It was appeared also that inspite of the little per capital increasing of animal protein due to inc-reasing of its sources, it is still considered un-suitable for healthy levels. In this point the ave-rage person’s share of this element from cattle esti¬mated by about only 3.28 grams per day in the same period, although it should reached to approximately
