Abstract

The present study was planed to evaluating the biochemical characterization of palm pollen extracts, water pollen extract (WPE) and ethanol pollen extract (EPE), as a biostimulator in many different ways. The following points summarize the obtained data:
1. Pollen extracts possessed different antioxidant activities and the antioxidant activity of the pollen extracts is in the increasing trend with the increasing concentration of the extract.
2. The using pollen extracts in the culture medium enhances growth of banana-shoot explants when compared to BA and enhances growth of banana-root explants when compared to IBA+NAA.
3. Pollen extracts had potential of antibacterial activities with varying levels against some bacteria speices.
4. Pollen extracts under investigation had immunostimulating activities.
5. Pollen extracts under investigation possessed antitumor activity against EACC.
6. Pollen extracts had protective effects against oxidative damage of DNA, brain, liver and erythrocytes.
7. No significant differences in liver and kidney functions and complete blood count between four groups after oral administration of pollen preparations to normal rats (50 mg/kg b.w) for 7 days.
8. Pollen extracts under investigation had inhibitory activity of platelets aggregation and antihypoxic activitiy.
