Abstract It has been observed that in patients with otomycosis in spite of the hyper activity of the ceruminous glands and increased ceruminous secretion, very little of it is left in the meatus. Cerumen contains nutritional elementfor fungal growth and also contain copper which is toxic for fungal growth. This controversy led us to biochemical constitution of wax in cases of normal’s and in otomycosis . so we did our study in trial to know these alterations. In this study twenty samples of normal excessive wax (10males and 10 females) and twenty samples of otomycotic infection (10 males and 10 females) were chosen and we estimated the toxic elements : copper, iron and free fatty acids, and elements enhancing fungal growth glucose and fructose, and local immunoglobulin A . |
