Abstract This study was carried out to evaluate the clinical and laboratory behaviors of class 11 combined amalgam-composite restorations in primary moJars. A-Clinical study: A total of 34 carious primary molar teeth were selected from 26 patients: aged 4-8 years. Class II cavities were prepared. The cavities were divided into three groups: Group I: 12 class II cavities, that were restored with composite resin. Group II: 11 class II cavities, that were restored with the combined amalgam-composite restorations, with bond at the amalgam-composite interface. Group III: 11 class II cavities, that were restored with the combined amalgam-composite restorations, with bond at the amalgam-composite and tooth-amalgam interfaces. Direct clinical evaluations of the restorations, were performed at baseline, after 3 months, after 6 months and after 9 months, using the criteria described by Ryge and Snyder (1973) Restorations were also evaluated radiographically, using standardized bitewing radiographs, at baseline, after 3 months, after 6 months and. |
