Abstract Diabetes niellitus is a cnronic disease, and has a major impact on cardiac mortality and morbidity. So, the prevalence of coronary artery diseases is increased among diabetics. It is reported to be the most common cause of death in maturity onset diabetes. In recent years it has been responsible for nearly one half of all deatns among diabetics. Atherosclerotic coronary artery diseases tend to occur at an earlier age ani with greater severity in the diabetic than the non diabetic population. The coronary risk factors in diabetes mellitus, iucluas, ayperlipidaemia, hypertension, obesity, oral antidiabetio drugs, genetics, and others. But, even, if all risk factors are excluded, hyperglycaeaia per se, is an established risk factor in the development of coronary artery disease, by an undetermined way. The aim of this work is to estimate the incidence of coronary artery diseases in maturity onset diabetes. The material of this work was done on 50 diabetic patients of the non-insulin dependent type over the age of 40 years attending the medical department of Alexandria University Hospital for the control of their diabetic state. |
