Abstract Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has gained widespread acceptance as the treatment of choice for cases of chronic calcular cholecystitis.Laparoscopic approach is associated with minimal morbidity, shorter hospital stay, earlier return to work and better cosmetic results.Preoperative ultrasound is important to predict potential intra operative difficulties and complications. We aimed in the present study to asses the value of ultrasound in identifying the risk factors predictive of conversion of laparoscopic cholecystectomy to open surgery and to record the difficulties and complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy.35 patients were selected in this study having gall bladder diseases with normal liver function tests and without obstructive jaundice.A clinical history was taken, liver testes were measured and abdominal ultrasound was performed. The ultrasound examination assessed the following parameters:Gall bladder size and morphology.Intra and extra hepatic gall bladder.Wall thickness and pericholecystic fibrosis.Size and number of calculi.C.B.D. diameter. |
