Abstract This thesis discuss a method to overcome the problem of voltage collapse (VC) in electrical networks. VC means the loss of power system voltages due to sO.medisturbances. It may frequently lead to a partial or a complete blackout of the electrical power systems, which may causing economical, political and social problems. According to its time-scale, VC consists of three types: Transient, mid-term and long-term time scales. Changes in power system contributing to voltage collapse are: Increase in loading. Generators or SVC reaching reactive power limits. Action of tap-changing transformers. Load recovery dynamics. Line tripping or generator outages. The remedial actions against VC are: Blocking tap-changing transformers. Redispatch of generation. Rescheduling of generator and pilot bus voltages. Secondary voltage regulation. Load shedding. Injection of reactive power from switched capacitors or generator reactive power overtoading. The thesis focus on the injection of reactive power method. |
