Abstract The incidence of Rh isoimmunization has been markedly reduced in the developed countries through the prevention of occurrence of sensitization in Rh negative women by administration of RhIG. However, Rhesus isoimmunization still constitutes a significant problem in the developing countries, including Egypt. The risk and severity of sensitization also rises with the increase in the volume of TPH, therefore complete prevention of Rh-immunization depends on estimation of the amount of TPH in order to give the proper dose of immune globulin. Inspite that ABO incompatibility between the mother and her baby reduces the life span of fetal cells in the maternal circulation it does not absolutely protect against Rh-immunization. This study was carried out for detection of the incidence of TPH in the Egyptian population and to compare the incidence of TPH in both normal and complicated pregnancies and deliveries. The study comprised 100 women admitted for delivery in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Am Shams University Hospitals. Those women were subjected to: 1- Complete obstetric history laying stress on the number of deliveries and any complications occurred during pregnancy. |
