المستخلص The present work had been done to study the postnatal development of the albino rat testis. Thirty six male albino rats aging from one day after birth up to three months were used in this study. Testicular specimens were used for histological and histochemical studies. Hematoxylin and eosin stains were used for histological studies while other stains for periodic acid-Schiff, alkaline phosphatase, and acid phosphatase activities were used for histochemical studies. Histological studies showed that the tunica albuginea at the age of one day postnatum and up to two weeks showed no apparant changes . At the age of three weeks, it showed increased amount of connective tissue fibres, and from the age of one month up to three months, the tunica albuginea showed condensation of connective tissue fibres and appeared more compact. The tunica vasculosa at the ages of one day postnatum and up to ten days showed no changes - At the age of two weeks it became highly developed, and from the age of three weeks up to three months, the tunica vasculosa was regressed and diminshed in thickness. |
