Abstract
The relation between cholinesterase enzyme activity and carbohydrate metabolism was investigated in rats using the cholinesterase inhibitor prostigmin in a dose of 0.2 mg//Kg body weight.
Study of the effects of prostigmin administered for different periods on blood glucose and cholinesterase was carried out on fasting rats, A significant rise of blood glucose levels after 15 min, 30 min and 45 min. Changes of blood glucose level after 60 min of prostigrain were, however, insignificant. On the other ha.nd, insignificant changes In blood cholinesterase activity was observed at 15 min and 45 t«in; but 60 min after prostigmin the blood cholinesterase activity was significantly diminished, Effects of prostigmin were also studied on fasting fits loaded with glucose (2.5 g/Kg body weight).
