Abstract
NHCT is a safe rapidly performed test for evaluation of suspected renal colic .
* It is highly sensitive test for evaluation of renal & ureteral calculi, and more importantly, allows visualization of alternate pathology.
* Secondary signs are seen that aid in determining the presence or absence of obstruction, and are often helpful if a stone is not visualized.
* The superior soft tissue contrast of CT allows detection of ureteric stones as small as 2mm in size.
* The reformatted views produced images similar to those produced by excretory urography.
These improved communication with the clinicians.
* NHCT allows for rapid triage and localization of stones and should be recommended as the primary diagnostic modality for evaluation of patients with acute flank pain and suspected ureterolithiasis.
* If helical CT is not available, plain film plus Ultrasonography should be considered.
This approach does not solve all the cases,IVU is indicated in unresolved cases.
