Abstract SUMARY AHD CONCLUSION Thirty patients with acute enteric fevera, admitted to Alexandria fever hospital were studied. They were diagnosed by clinical examination, blood cultures, total and differential leacocytio count, Widal and altde agglu¬tination teats- All patients were treated with chloramph-enicol in a dose of 50mg per kg body weight per day in four equal divided dosea for 14 days. In thia study we aim to evaluate the value of slide agglutination teat aa rapid diagnostic teat comp¬aring to the other methods; Widal teat and blodd culture in diagnosis of enterica. Our study showed that blood culture done on admission was diagnostic in 33.3$ of cases, 23.3$ of them were positive for aalmonella typhit 3*3% for salmonella para-typhi A and 6.7% were poaitlve for aalcn»nell& paratyphi B. Stool, urine and blood cultures after treatment were sterile in all cases but stool culture in on* case before treatment waa positive- Leucopenla wag noticed in most casea, with relative lymphooytosis. The duration of differveacence of temper-ature in enteric patienta treated with ohloramphenlool was 3.5 days. |
