Abstract The hang-back recession technique has been described as a simple, safe and redictable alternative to conventional recession. - The hang-back recession technique offers more safety than the conventional echnique as the scieral sutures are placed through the easily accessible, relatively • ck sciera of the insertion site rather than the thinner sciera posterior to the insertion, thus reducing the risk of scieral perforation. It also eliminates the ifficulty in achieving adequate deep exposure, especially in congenital cases. It also permits larger amounts of recession to be performed, which are eeded in some cases. Hang-back recession is a non-adjustable suspension recession technique, which inserts a suture at the original insertion site and allows the muscle to retract posteriorly on a suture loop along the globe by a measured amount where it will adhere to its new insertion site. Our study is acting on horizontal rectus muscle. The study includes two groups: Group I: (esotropic group, 22 patients) subdivided into: + Congenital esotropia (14 patients). • Acquired esotropia (8 patients). Group II. (exotropic group, 18 patients)Taking in consideration matching of age, type of squint, angle of deviation, refraction and the amount of recession performed. All case were submitted to full ophthalrnological examination, refraction, measurements of the angle of deviation, testing of ocular motility, measurements of visual acuity and testing of binocular functions when possible. |
