Abstract This thesis deals with the problem of optimization of cable suspended structures. The classic linear programming method for optimization is presented and a computer program is written for this method, some examples are then introduced to verify the applicability of this program. The examples showed that the linear programming method has some disadvantages for optimizing the current problem of cable suspended structures. The method of optimality criteria is introduced with a new proposed recurrence relation. A comprehensive computer program is written using the proposed technique. Several examples are solved to verify the applicability of the proposed recurrence relation. Taking the change of geometry of the structure in consideration as a design variable is extended to include the stress constraints. Practical cases of structures are analyzed. The method with the proposed modification is used in the analysis of cable suspended structrures. Different parameteric studies are carried out. A brief summary and discussion of the results is presented. |
